| There’s a picture of a goose on my desk at home that I took at some summer camp. Although the exposure isn’t great I can see I already had a pretty solid foundation for composition, and I’d say that’s pretty good for 5th grade. In some conversation I had with a friend about artistic vision or something, they asked me how I knew what would make a good picture or how I knew how to photograph things. I sat and played with my glasses for a second and laughed, “Well, I’m kind of looking through lenses and frames all the time anyway.” In a much less literal sense, this is also true. When I don’t have a camera to my eye, I’m still constantly framing out the environment around me in my head. Most of the time, taking pictures is just intuition. I just try and capture the world the way I see it. |
